How do we know that God loves us even when we suffer?

Answered in 1 source

God's love is not dependent on our circumstances; all believers experience suffering as part of their human condition.

In John 11, both Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha were loved by Jesus, yet Lazarus became ill and ultimately died. This affirms that being loved by God does not exempt one from suffering. Henry Mahan emphasizes that suffering and illness are part of the human experience and not a sign of God’s absence. Understanding suffering in light of the covenant of grace helps believers recognize that God's love remains constant even amid trials.
