How do we know that God loves us when we are chastened?

Answered in 1 source

Our chastening is a sign of God's love, proving that we are His children, as He disciplines those He loves.

The Scriptures affirm in Hebrews 12:6 that 'whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth.' This discipline serves as a demonstration of God’s love and care for His people. When we experience affliction, it should be seen as a means for us to grow and learn to trust in God rather than in our own strength. Just as David faced the consequences of his sin, this chastening is aimed at drawing us closer to God, reinforcing our reliance on His grace during difficult times. David recognized that God's hand was at work for his good, even in the midst of his suffering.
