How do we know that God must be just in justification?

Answered in 1 source

God's justice is absolute, and He cannot overlook guilt; therefore, Christ's sacrifice is essential for justification.

God's nature is intrinsically just, as demonstrated in Exodus 34:7, where He declares, 'I will by no means clear the guilty.' Because of this attribute, God cannot simply forgive sin without a means of justice being satisfied. Christ's death on the cross serves as the propitiation (Romans 3:25), satisfying God's wrath against sin. Thus, through faith in Christ, believers are justified without compromising God's justice, highlighting the glory of His grace.
