How do we know that God proves His people?

Answered in 2 sources

We see in Deuteronomy 8:2 that God intentionally leads and proves His people to reveal their hearts and reliance on Him.

Deuteronomy 8:2 states, 'And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee and to prove thee.' This highlights that God proves His people through trials and testing. The aim is not for God to learn what is in their hearts, but for the people themselves to understand their dependence on Him. The trials serve a dual purpose: to humble them and to clarify their spiritual condition. The testing of our faith is consistent with God's loving intention, as He desires for us to grow in spiritual maturity and deeper knowledge of our need for Him.
