How do we know that God requires us to love Him?

Answered in 1 source

God explicitly commands us to love Him with all our heart, symbolizing His requirement for an exclusive devotion.

In Deuteronomy 10:12-13, the Lord states that His requirements include loving Him with all of our heart and soul. This command illustrates that God desires not just outward compliance with His laws but an inward transformation that produces genuine love for Him. Love for God is the fruit of faith, and it is through understanding His love for us that we are enabled to love Him in return. Moreover, as we grow in faith, this love will naturally lead to obedience to His commandments, as true love for God cannot exist without a desire to honor and serve Him.
