How do we know that God's chastening is for our benefit?

Answered in 1 source

God's chastening is a sign of His love as He disciplines His children for their growth and holiness.

In Hebrews 12:6, it is stated, 'For whom the Lord loves, He chastens.' This truth assures us that God's discipline is rooted in His love for us. Unlike punishment, which is intended to condemn, chastisement leads to spiritual maturity and growth. The actions of a loving father towards his children illustrate that discipline is meant for their benefit. As children endure chastening, they are being molded into the image of Christ. This process enhances their faith and reliance on God, reminding them of their deep need for grace and pointing them toward His sufficiency in times of trial.
