How do we know that God's expectations for fruitfulness apply to us?

Answered in 1 source

God seeks fruit in our lives as evidence of our faith, and this expectation is clearly shown through Scripture.

The expectation for fruitfulness in the lives of believers is rooted in Scripture and is exemplified by the parable of the fig tree. In Isaiah 5, God's vineyard represents Israel, to whom He made every effort yet found them unfruitful. In the New Testament, this is applied to the church, where believers are called to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit. John 15:8 states, 'Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit.' This illustrates that genuine faith will naturally result in good works and a transformed life as evidence of the Holy Spirit at work within us. Therefore, we should examine ourselves to determine if our lives are bearing the fruit that reflects our connection to Christ.
