How do we know that God's grace is essential for fellowship?

Answered in 1 source

God's grace is essential because all humans, by nature, are in enmity against God and cannot approach Him without it.

The message of the gospel emphasizes that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). The natural state of humanity is one of enmity toward God, as stated in Romans 8:7, where the carnal mind is enmity against God. God's grace is the necessary means by which we are reconciled to Him, as seen in 2 Corinthians 5:19-21, where it is revealed that God was reconciling the world to Himself through Christ. Without grace, men remain at odds with God. It is through the redemptive work of Christ that we gain access to fellowship with God, demonstrating that grace is not only necessary but foundational for reconciliation and communion.
