How do we know that God's grace makes us ready?

Answered in 1 source

The readiness to meet God is solely a result of His grace, which equips believers with the righteousness of Christ.

The concept of readiness being a gift of grace is fundamental in Christian theology. In Revelation 19:7-8, it is stated that the bride made herself ready, but it was granted to her to be clothed in fine linen, representing the righteousness of the saints. This righteousness is not earned through human effort but is bestowed upon believers through faith in Christ. Furthermore, 1 John 4:17 assures us that we can have boldness on the day of judgment because we are like Christ in this world—a truth grounded in God's grace. Our readiness is thus an acknowledgment of what God has accomplished through Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection, making us fit for His presence not because of our deeds, but because of His unmerited favor.
