How do we know that God's hatred of evil is justified?

Answered in 1 source

God's hatred of evil is justified because it stems from His holy and perfect nature, which cannot tolerate sin.

The holiness of God is the very foundation of His character, and as a result, He inherently hates evil and sin. This is evidenced throughout Scripture, particularly in verses such as Psalm 5:5, which states that God hates all workers of iniquity. A holy God must abhorwickedness, much like a just judge cannot ignore crimes without compromising justice. Therefore, God's hatred of evil is not arbitrary, but rather a necessary expression of His perfect nature. Christians are likewise commanded to hate what is evil (Psalm 97:10), reflecting God's own abhorrence of sin as they adhere to His moral standards.
