How do we know that God's love is effectual?

Answered in 2 sources

God's love is effectual because it chooses and secures the salvation of His people.

The effectual love of God is clearly demonstrated in scripture, particularly through the example of Jacob and Esau, where God distinctly loved Jacob while hating Esau. This sovereign choice underscores that God's love is not universal for all but specifically directed towards His elect. As stated in John 13, Jesus expressed His love for His own and indicated that it is this electing love that guarantees salvation. Those whom God loves are those He saves; thus, His love cannot fail and is always effectual in bringing about the salvation of His chosen ones.
