How do we know that God's mercy is for great sinners?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy is explicitly for great sinners, demonstrated throughout Scripture by the forgiveness of notorious sinners like David and the harlot in Luke 7.

The Bible is replete with examples of God's mercy being extended to great sinners. For instance, King David, who committed adultery and murder, was forgiven and referred to as a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). Similarly, in Luke 7, Jesus highlights the great love of a sinful woman whose sins, although many, are forgiven because she recognizes the depth of her need. The principle is clear: the greater the sin, the greater the opportunity for God's grace to shine. This is biblically supported by Romans 5:20, which states, 'But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.' Thus, if you feel like a great sinner, remember that God's grace is even greater.
