How do we know that God's mercy outweighs His vengeance?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereign mercy is displayed through His justice satisfied in Christ, allowing Him to be merciful to sinners without compromising His holiness (Romans 8:1).

God's greatest glory is His sovereign mercy towards sinners, which is essential to understand in the light of His vengeance. While God must punish sin to uphold His holiness, He has provided a way for His justice to be satisfied through the atoning sacrifice of Christ. This means that while God does take vengeance on sin, He also extends mercy through Christ's suffering. Romans 8:1 assures us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, showcasing the balance of His justice and mercy.
