How do we know that God's righteousness is true?

Answered in 1 source

We know God's righteousness is true through the fulfillment of His law by Jesus Christ, who perfectly embodied righteousness.

The truth of God's righteousness is confirmed through the perfect and complete fulfillment of His law by Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that Christ did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17). In doing so, He perfectly obeyed every aspect of God's commandments, both in His active obedience to perform the law and in His passive obedience to bear the penalty for sin. This dual fulfillment demonstrates that Jesus embodied God's righteousness completely.

Additionally, Romans 8:4 highlights that the righteous requirement of the law is fulfilled in us who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. This indicates that believers, through faith in Christ, are credited with righteousness, affirming that God's standards are both achievable and inherent in the life of those united with Christ. The transformation experienced by believers as they grow in godliness further attests to the reality and truth of God's righteousness in action.
