How do we know that God's sovereignty affects salvation?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty is evident in how He personally calls His elect by name to receive salvation, as depicted in the miracles of Jesus.

The sovereignty of God is foundational in Reformed theology, where we understand that God chooses whom He will save. In John 11, when Jesus calls Lazarus out of the tomb, it is a clear display of His sovereign authority over life and death. Lazarus did not choose to come forth; he responded because Christ called him. This emphasizes that salvation is not a result of human effort but entirely of God’s sovereign will. Jesus’ call was not a general invitation but a specific command to Lazarus, showing that His call to salvation is individual and intentional.
