How do we know that God's sovereignty encompasses suffering?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty assures that all suffering serves a divine purpose, as seen in Acts 8.

The sovereignty of God includes His authority over all human events, including suffering and afflictions faced by His people. In Acts 8, the early church experienced severe persecution, yet God's sovereign hand guided this toward a greater good: the spread of the Gospel. As believers were scattered, they became active witnesses for Christ in regions previously untouched. This assurance is echoed throughout Scripture, indicating that trials are not arbitrary but are part of God's purposeful design, ultimately leading to the glorification of His name and the advance of His Kingdom.
