How do we know that God's temptations are different from Satan's?

Answered in 1 source

God's temptations aim to strengthen our faith, while Satan's aim to lead us into sin.

The Bible makes a clear distinction between the nature of God's temptations and those of Satan. God does not tempt anyone to evil, as seen in James 1:13 which states that 'God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.' Instead, God's temptations, as illustrated through the life of Abraham, are meant to refine and reveal the faith He has gifted us. They lead us closer to Him, helping us to rely on His strength. Conversely, Satan's temptations entice us towards sin, drawing us away from God’s truth and leading us into spiritual death. Recognizing this distinction helps Christians understand the purpose of their trials and the character of the God they serve.
