How do we know that God saves sinners and not just good people?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture reveals that God reconciles sinners through grace, not by their own righteousness.

Romans 5:8 tells us that God demonstrated His love toward us while we were yet sinners. This is a core tenet of Reformed theology, highlighting that salvation is not based on our merits or good works but solely on God's grace. The narrative of David and Uriah reveals the depths of sin in all humans, including the biblical figures revered for their faith. God's plan of redemption showcases His grace by saving individuals who fall short of His glory. Therefore, comfort comes from the knowledge that our salvation rests on the unmerited favor of God alone, and that every believer, no matter their past, can find forgiveness and hope through Jesus Christ. This assurance propels us into a deeper love for Him who has saved us, recognizing that He specializes in saving the lost.
