How do we know that God speaks to us today?

Answered in 2 sources

We recognize God's voice through His Word and the preaching of the gospel, which is sustained by the Holy Spirit.

God continues to speak to His people today primarily through His Word and the preaching of the gospel. Romans 10:14-15 emphasizes that hearing the message comes through God's ordained mechanisms: namely, the preaching by those sent to proclaim His truth. This shows that while God has not left humanity without guidance, His communication is often contingent upon the faithful preaching of His message. Furthermore, as seen in the examples from scripture, individuals like Daniel and Haggai received special revelations that directed God's people. Thus, we realize that God's speaking can happen through various means, including the reading of the Scriptures, prayer, and the church's ministry.
