How do we know that God still calls prophets today?

Answered in 1 source

While the office of prophet in the strict biblical sense has ceased, God continues to raise up preachers who proclaim His truth.

The New Testament distinguishes between the office of prophet during its infancy and the continuing need for faithful proclaimers of the Word of God today. Though the specific offices of apostle and prophet ended with Paul and John the Baptist respectively, the gift of prophecy as a form of preaching remains. Modern preachers can embody the qualities of prophets in their bold proclamation of the gospel, calling for repentance and faith in Christ, evidenced in the message they deliver. This demonstrates that while roles evolve, God's calling persists.
