How do we know that God uses afflictions for our good?

Answered in 2 sources

Scripture teaches that God uses afflictions as a form of baptism, purifying us and drawing us nearer to Him.

Believers can find assurance in the truth that God uses afflictions for their sanctification and growth. Just as Jesus underwent His unique baptism of suffering to fulfill redemptive purposes, our trials serve a divine purpose in drawing us closer to Him. In Romans 8:28, Paul reassures us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. When we view our struggles through the lens of Christ's sufferings, we realize that these afflictions can be seen as sacred baptisms when submitted to His grace and blessed by the Holy Spirit. This perspective helps transform painful experiences into avenues of divine support and comfort.
