How do we know that God uses irony in scripture?

Answered in 1 source

God's use of irony is evident in numerous biblical texts where He contrasts truth with human folly to impart wisdom.

Biblical irony often serves to highlight the absurdity of idolatry and human wisdom as compared to divine wisdom. For instance, in Exodus 32, when God tells Moses to let His wrath burn against the people for their idolatry, it is an ironic statement given the fact that He is the one dealing with the idolatrous actions. Additionally, God's sarcastic statements towards idol worship in Isaiah 57:12 show how He employs irony to underscore the futility of trusting in false gods. Such instances help believers discern God's perspective on human actions and the seriousness of disregarding divine commands.
