How do we know that God uses trials in our lives?

Answered in 1 source

God uses trials to refine our faith, instill perseverance, and draw us closer to Him.

The doctrine of divine providence teaches that God ordains trials for His people, utilizing them as tools for spiritual growth and refinement. Just as metals are purified through fire, believers are tested through various tribulations to separate what is precious from the dross in their hearts. These trials serve to make us long for our true home in heaven and teach us virtues such as patience, kindness, and forbearance. The struggles faced by Abraham and Lot remind us that even the faithful endure challenges, which can ultimately be used by God to mold us into the image of His Son. Hence, trials are not haphazard but intentionally permitted by our heavenly Father.
