How do we know that God values humility?

Answered in 4 sources

The Bible teaches that God values humility as He looks favorably upon the poor in spirit and contrite hearts.

In Isaiah 66:2, God declares, 'but this is the one to whom I will look: to the one who is humble and contrite in spirit.' This sentiment is echoed throughout Scripture, indicating that God’s favor rests upon those who recognize their inadequacy and express genuine humility before Him. Historical accounts also reveal that the proud and self-sufficient are often resisted by God, as seen in James 4:6, which states that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. The embodiment of this humility is found in Christ, who exemplified a life of servant-leadership and dependence upon the Father.
