How do we know that God will give us wisdom if we ask?

Answered in 1 source

God promises in James 1:5 that He will give wisdom to those who ask in faith, without hesitation.

The assurance that God will provide wisdom when we ask comes from a promise embedded in Scripture. James 1:5 tells us that we can approach God confidently, requesting wisdom, and He will grant it generously and without rebuke. This is rooted in God's nature as being kind and merciful; He does not hold our past mistakes against us when we seek His help. However, faith is essential in our request—James teaches that we must ask with unwavering belief. This indicates that our assurance of receiving comes not only from the promise itself but also from understanding God's character as a loving Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children.
