How do we know that God works in us to will and to do His good pleasure?

Answered in 1 source

The transformation of our will and desires is a result of God's sovereign work in the believer's heart.

Philippians 2:13 assures us that 'it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.' This underscores the doctrine of sovereign grace, where believers are not left to their own wills but are moved by God to desire what pleases Him. The new birth, or regeneration, enables believers to genuinely desire to follow God's commands, transitioning from rebellious hearts to willing servants who seek to glorify Him through their actions. This change is evidence of God's grace working in individuals, making it evident that true faith expresses itself in a transformed life.
