How do we know that grace is more important than gifts?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is emphasized as more crucial than gifts because it reflects God's love and mercy towards us, which is the ultimate purpose of our faith.

Paul makes it clear that while gifts are given to different members of the body of Christ, the true measure of our worth and identity lies in our relationship with God through grace. In Luke 10:20, Jesus instructs his disciples not to rejoice in their spiritual power but rather because their names are written in heaven. This illustrates that grace, which assures our salvation and relationship with God, is far superior to any temporary gifts or abilities we may possess. Therefore, the emphasis should always be on cultivating a loving relationship with God and others, as this is where our true fulfillment lies.
