How do we know that human nature is corrupt?

Answered in 1 source

The pervasive presence of sin and the native tendencies of the heart prove the corruption of human nature.

Human nature's corruption is demonstrated by our continual propensity to seek satisfaction in created things rather than in God. Despite outward appearances of morality or education, such as in those deemed civilized, the heart remains alienated from God. This alienation exists even among those who profess Orthodox Christianity, demonstrating how one can appear righteous before men yet be repugnant in the sight of God. The Bible describes a range of sins that stem from this fallen state, including pride, covetousness, and idolatry, confirming that we are indeed born in sin and children of wrath without the intervention of divine grace.
