How do we know that humans are inherently sinful?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible consistently teaches that all humans are born in sin and incapable of righteousness apart from God's grace.

Scripture reveals our sinful nature beginning with Psalm 51:5, where David states, 'Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.' This concept is further confirmed in Romans 3:10-12, where Paul asserts that 'there is no one righteous, not even one,' emphasizing that no one seeks God on their own. Naaman's leprosy is a vivid picture of our condition: outward appearances may deceive, but inside we are corrupt and in need of divine intervention. Without God washing us in the blood of the Lamb, we remain in our sins.
