How do we know that humans do not choose their salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Humans, due to their sinful nature, do not choose to come to God; rather, it is God who draws them.

The doctrine of total depravity explains that while humans can exercise their will, they will always choose sin over holiness due to their fallen nature. John 1:13 highlights that true belief is not born of human will but from God's initiative. Furthermore, Philippians 2:13 affirms that it is God working in us to will and to do His good pleasure. Thus, our inclination toward God is a result of His sovereign action in our hearts, illustrating that salvation is a divine work rather than a human choice.
