How do we know that humility is important in the Christian faith?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is essential in the Christian faith, as it allows us to come to God recognizing our need for His grace.

The story of Naaman illustrates the necessity of humility in our relationship with God. Naaman, despite his power and status, had to confront his pride and submit to the simple command of the prophet Elisha to wash in the Jordan. Scripture consistently teaches that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). When we approach God with a humble heart, acknowledging our sinfulness and need for redemption, we open ourselves to receive His grace and healing. Pride blinds us to our true condition, whereas humility allows us to see our need for a Savior.
