How do we know that husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the church?

Ephesians 5:25 states, 'Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.' This call to love is rooted in the sacrificial nature of Christ, who laid down His life for His bride. The implication is that a husband's love should mirror the selflessness and commitment demonstrated by Christ.
