How do we know that it shall be well with the righteous?

Answered in 4 sources

It shall be well with the righteous because God promises it, based on His grace and the righteousness of Christ.

The assurance that it shall be well with the righteous is grounded in several truths: First, their greatest trouble, which is sin, has been dealt with by Christ. Secondly, their enemy, Satan, has been defeated. God, who rules all, ensures that His sovereign grace sustains them through trials and tribulations. Furthermore, the very justice of God demands that since the righteous are united with Christ, they shall reap the benefits of His righteousness. They are assured that God's grace is sufficient in all circumstances, and nothing can separate them from His love.
