How do we know that Jephthah's story points to Jesus Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Jephthah's story illustrates Christ as a type of savior who has been rejected yet ultimately delivers his people.

Jephthah's narrative serves as a typological foreshadowing of Christ. Both Jephthah and Jesus faced rejection from their own. Jephthah was shunned by his family but called upon when Israel found itself in dire straits. This mirrors how Christ was rejected by His own people yet came to save them. Even in Jephthah's rash vow, we see a picture of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus, who willingly laid down His life for sinners, fulfilling the need for redemption for His people.
