How do we know that Jesus died specifically for the elect?

Answered in 2 sources

Jesus stated, 'I lay down My life for the sheep,' indicating that His sacrificial death was specifically for those called to salvation.

The doctrine of particular redemption, often associated with historic Reformed theology, asserts that Christ's death was intended to secure salvation for the elect alone. In John 10:14-15, Jesus reiterates, 'I know My own, and My own know Me, just as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father, and I lay down My life for the sheep.' This teaches us that His atoning sacrifice is effectively applied to those whom the Father has given to Him, ensuring that salvation is not simply a potential offer but a guaranteed accomplishment for the chosen ones. The finished work of Christ is thus exclusive to the elect, which further solidifies the understanding of His sacrificial death.
