How do we know that Jesus fulfills the law as our shepherd?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus fulfills the law by coming into the world and obeying its demands perfectly on behalf of His people.

Jesus' role as the true shepherd is inherently tied to His fulfillment of God's law. In Galatians 3:23, we learn that prior to faith, believers were 'kept under the law,' which kept them confined until the arrival of Christ. Jesus, made under the law and born of a woman, came to satisfy all the righteous demands of the law, thus allowing Him to liberate those held captive by sin. His obedience and sacrificial death not only validate His position as a shepherd but also provide the means by which His sheep might escape the confines of sin. Thus, the fulfillment of the law serves as both the entrance into the sheepfold and the assurance of the shepherd's authority.
