How do we know that Jesus fulfills the role of the true temple?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus fulfills the role of the true temple because He embodied the presence of God and is the source of salvation.

In John 2:19, Jesus states, 'Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up,' referring to His body as the temple. This indicates that the true fulfillment of the temple is found in Christ Himself. Unlike the physical temple which was only a shadow, Jesus as the true temple represents the ultimate dwelling place of God. He provided the once-for-all sacrifice that the temple system symbolized. Thus, believing in Christ and His sacrifice allows believers to have communion with God, fulfilling the temple's intended purpose.
