How do we know that Jesus has taken our debts?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible assures us that through Jesus, our sins are paid and we are set free from debt.

The assurance of our debts being taken by Jesus is grounded in the doctrine of imputation. When Christ became our surety, He accepted our sins upon Himself and paid the ultimate price through His sacrifice. In the New Testament, Paul refers to believers as being dead to sin, meaning that sin no longer holds power over them because it has been forgiven. Thus, all that God requires of us is fulfilled in Christ. Our salvation is rooted in His righteousness, which is imputed to us when we believe. Scripture emphasizes that believers are justified and seen as righteous in the eyes of God because of Christ’s completed work. This transforms how we view ourselves before God—no longer slaves to sin, but living under the grace of Christ.
