How do we know that Jesus is a superior high priest?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is a superior high priest because He has a more excellent ministry established on better promises, distinct from the temporary and flawed Levitical priesthood.

In Hebrews 8:6, it is stated that Jesus has obtained a more excellent ministry because He is the mediator of a better covenant, one that is built on better promises. This is significant as the Old Covenant was characterized by ceremonies and continual sacrifices that could never fully atone for sin. Unlike the earthly priests who were of the tribe of Levi and could not provide true redemption, Jesus, from the tribe of Judah, fulfills the true essence of the priesthood by offering Himself for our salvation once and for all. His eternal intercession and perfect sacrifice assure us of the completeness of our redemption in Him.
