Jesus is referred to as our hiding place because He embodies Jehovah's promise of refuge.

The claim that Jesus is our hiding place is grounded in the truth that He is Jehovah, our righteousness, as prophesied in Isaiah. When in Christ, believers find ultimate security, not only from life's trials but also from God's righteous judgment against sin. As a man and God, Jesus fulfills the role of mediator, allowing us to find safety in His presence. By abiding in Him, we dwell in the Father's care, receiving protection from the myriad troubles that life presents.
