How do we know that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus fulfills the Old Testament by embodying the roles of prophet, priest, and king.

Throughout the Scriptures, particularly in the book of Hebrews, we see that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament types and shadows. He is portrayed as the ultimate Prophet who reveals God’s Word, the perfect Priest who offers Himself as a sacrifice for sins, and the Sovereign King who reigns from the right hand of God. Unlike the Old Testament figures, Jesus uniquely combines these three offices — something that was never possible in the Old Covenant contexts where each office was held by different individuals. This linking of His identity back to Old Testament prophecies and sacrifices underscores the argument that He is the promised Messiah who brings a better hope and a new covenant sealed by His blood.
