How do we know that Jesus is the gift of God?

Answered in 2 sources

We know Jesus is the gift of God because He fulfills God's promise of salvation by offering Himself as the propitiation for our sins.

Jesus is the gift of God as affirmed by scripture, notably in John 4, where He tells the Samaritan woman about living water that leads to eternal life. This gift is not merely an offer but a reality given through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for all who believe. The Gospel reveals that this gift is a fulfillment of God's promise to redeem His people. The essence of the Gospel is that God does not simply extend an offer of salvation, but has given His Son, to die for sinners, ensuring that all who are called will indeed come and find life in Him. Understanding this gift requires a recognition of our need for salvation, which Christ alone meets.
