How do we know that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath?

Answered in 2 sources

Jesus declared Himself as the Lord of the Sabbath, affirming His authority over the law and the purpose of the Sabbath.

In Luke 6:5, Jesus explicitly states, 'The Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath,' which asserts His divine authority over the Sabbath laws that the Pharisees strictly enforced. By performing miracles and acts of mercy on the Sabbath, He demonstrated that the Sabbath was intended for rest and restoration, not mere legalistic observance. Therefore, in acknowledging His lordship over the Sabbath, we recognize Him as sovereign over all aspects of life, even the ceremonial laws.
