How do we know that Jesus is the perfect high priest?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is confirmed as the perfect high priest through His sinlessness and the fulfillment of prophecies about the priesthood.

We know that Jesus is the perfect high priest because of His impeccable sinlessness, which is repeatedly emphasized in the Book of Hebrews. Unlike the Aaronic priests who had to offer sacrifices for their own sins, Jesus offered Himself as the perfect and final sacrifice, fulfilling the requirements of the law. His priesthood is described as eternal, being established after the order of Melchizedek, who was both king and priest (Hebrews 7:17). This emphasizes the uniqueness of Christ's role compared to the Old Testament priests, who had a temporary and flawed system. Furthermore, His resurrection ensures that He lives forever to make intercession for those who draw near to God through Him (Hebrews 7:25).
