How do we know that Jesus prays for believers?

In John 17:20-21, Jesus states, 'Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.' This passage reveals that Jesus, as our High Priest, intercedes for every believer who will come to faith through the gospel. This means that His prayers are not limited to the apostles but reach out across time to encompass all His elect. Thus, believers can take great comfort knowing that Christ continually intercedes for them before the Father, securing their eternal standing.
