How do we know that Jesus' priesthood is superior to the Levitical priesthood?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' priesthood is superior because He was appointed by an oath and offers a perfect sacrifice for sins once for all.

Hebrews 7 highlights the superiority of Jesus' priesthood over the Levitical priesthood by pointing out that Jesus was established as a priest by God's oath, whereas Levitical priests were appointed by lineage. Additionally, Christ's sacrifice was unique and eternal, offering complete atonement for sin with His single act of self-offering. Unlike the repeated sacrifices of the Levitical system, Jesus' atonement effects total forgiveness and perfect righteousness for His people, thereby confirming the sufficiency and superiority of His role as High Priest.
