How do we know that Jesus provides true righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus provides true righteousness by fulfilling the law perfectly and imputing His righteousness to believers.

The righteousness we require to stand before a holy God is not something we can achieve on our own. According to Scripture, Jesus was tempted in every way yet remained without sin (Hebrews 4:15). His perfect life fulfilled the law and demonstrates that true righteousness is only found in Him. Through His substitutionary work on the cross, He takes on our sin and credits us with His righteousness, as described in 2 Corinthians 5:21.

For believers, this means that we are no longer defined by our failures or comparative sins but are clothed in the righteousness of Christ. This profound truth provides assurance that we can approach God confidently, knowing that it is not our merit, but Christ's perfect fulfillment of the law that secures our place in His presence. Without this understanding, we risk falling into self-righteousness, which is a denial of Christ's redemptive work.
