How do we know that Jesus truly forgives our sins?

Answered in 1 source

We know Jesus forgives sins through His authority as the Son of God and His fulfillment of God's covenant promise.

The assurance of forgiveness from Jesus is rooted in His identity and the completed work of salvation. In John 6:39, Jesus states, 'This is the will of him that sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.' This emphasizes God's sovereign plan of salvation where all whom the Father gives to Christ will not be lost and will receive eternal life. Additionally, Romans 8:1 assures believers that there is 'now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.' The forgiveness of sins is thus secured through Christ's atoning sacrifice and is guaranteed to all who truly believe in Him as their Savior.
