How do we know that Jesus will give us rest?

Answered in 2 sources

We know that Jesus will give us rest based on His promise in Matthew 11:28 and the assurance of His completed work on the cross.

Jesus explicitly promises in Matthew 11:28, 'Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.' This promise is grounded in His finished work of atonement, where He bore the weight of our sins and reconciled us to God. The rest He provides is a fulfillment of the covenantal promise made throughout Scripture, where God assures His people of His faithfulness and mercy. In John 17:1, Jesus speaks of glorifying the Father through the work He has completed, confirming that He has done everything necessary for us to receive that promised rest. Thus, our assurance comes from standing on the truth of God’s Word and Christ’s utmost faithfulness to fulfill His promises.
