How do we know that listening to God's Word is the most important thing?

Jesus indicated that there is one thing needful: hearing His Word. In the narrative of Martha and Mary, He lovingly rebuked Martha for being anxious and distracted by many things. Mary chose to focus on Jesus, showing that prioritizing the gospel is crucial for believers. This teaching aligns with the Reformed understanding of the necessity of grace and the Word for faith, as emphasized in Romans 10:17, which states that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Without this focus, believers can easily become overwhelmed by their duties, losing sight of their relationship with Christ.
